FAQ
How do you price cleaning jobs?
We charge an hourly rate per cleaner. Where most homes require only one cleaner, the hourly rate is $28/hr for 1 cleaner and $42/hr for 2 cleaners, depending on the length of appointment and service frequency. If a client is weekly or bi-weekly, we will work out a flat rate based on the average cleaning time.
Commercial jobs require multiple cleaners and are priced on location. Our commercial rates are competitive.
Please fill out an estimate form or inquire for details.
What is your cancellation policy?
Ideally we would like a week's notice when canceling an appointment, but we will accept cancellations up to 24 hours before without charging a fee. Please phone with cancellations under 48 hours. Cancellation notifications sent within 24 hours of the cleaning appointment are subject to a fee of $35. This fee also applies if our cleaners cannot enter your home or office at their regularly scheduled arrival time. Please remember to make arrangements if you will not be home.
What makes Magic Cleaning different from other companies?
Lot's of things! We are proud of our safe, sustainable approach, the relationship we have with our employees and our emphasis on client satisfaction. For the full story, check out our 'Service Difference' section.
How should I pay?
We accept cash, check, paypal and all major credit cards. If a client has an outstanding invoice, we will not perform regularly scheduled cleanings unless prior arrangements have been made.
How far in advance should I book an appointment?
In order to make sure your desired time slot is available we recommend 3 days notice. You are of course invited to check our availability at the last minute, as we frequently have openings or cancellations.
What if I'm unsatisfied with the cleaning?
If our cleaners do not clean something in your home sufficiently, we will send someone to re-do the specific area at no extra charge.
Are your products as effective as conventional cleaners?
Yes. We've been cleaning for over a decade and have done the research to find the hardest-working cleaning solutions on the market. Please note - if you are a school or health care facility, we can supply germ and bacterial testing results for our commercial cleaners.
Why is it important to use non-toxic cleaners?
It is suspected, and in some cases proven, that many of the chemicals contained in conventional cleaners (and other synthetic consumer goods) cause cancers, birth defects, allergies and developmental growth in children. They also adversely affect pets. Outside of the home, they contaminate water and soil and enter the food chain through low-level animals. As the research continues to pour in, we are confident that 'alternative' eco-friendly cleaners will gradually become the preferred option for cleaning.
Will you always send the same cleaner to clean my house/office?
It is our policy to always send the same cleaner(s) to your space. The only exception is if the client changes the regularly scheduled day and time (but even then we try our best to send the same person) or if the cleaner is sick or on vacation. We will notify you in advance in either of these situations.
What type of training does your staff receive?
Our employees are individually trained by a professional in the hospitality industry. After they have competed their training they accompany another cleaners to 3 appointments to gain experience with our particular style of cleaning.
It is important to point out that because of the relationship we have with our staff, there is a very low turnover rate. Most of our cleaners have been employed for years.
What happens if a cleaner breaks or damages something?
Not to worry! This very rarely happens, but in the case of an accident, we are fully insured and bonded and any personal item that is broken or damaged will be replaced or compensated for.
Do I need to provide Magic Cleaning Service with any supplies?
Yes, just a few. For sanitary reasons we request that each clients provides a broom, mop, toilet brush and sponge for the bathroom. We offer these items for sale at a very low cost if necessary. Please leave items in plain view for the cleaners.
Does someone have to be present at the home/office to let the cleaners in? Do I have to stay at home while they are working?
This is totally up to you, although most of are clients are not present while the work is being performed. Instead they choose to give us keys, a passcode or organize for a neighbor to let us in. We recommend you be there for the first cleaning so you can check over the work, but this is not required.
Do you offer laundry services?
Sure, but please be aware that several loads of laundry can add as much as an hour to the final cleaning time. If any garments require special care, please leave a handwritten note for the cleaners. We will play close attention to care instructions when a note is present, but are not responsible for any damaged items.
